Our Green Spaces

At Keyham Green Places, we take pride in our beautiful outdoor spaces, which serve as a green haven for the entire community. Our grounds are thoughtfully designed to offer something for everyone, from budding gardeners to nature enthusiasts.

Explore, grow, and connect with nature at KGP. Our green spaces are here for everyone to enjoy!

Micro Allotments

Our micro allotments provide local residents with the opportunity to cultivate their own small plots of land. Whether you're an experienced gardener or just starting out, these allotments are perfect for growing your own vegetables, herbs, and flowers. We encourage community members to get involved, share tips, and enjoy the satisfaction of growing fresh, healthy produce right in the heart of Keyham.

Heritage Forest Path

Winding through our grounds is the Heritage Forest Path, a unique feature that celebrates the natural and cultural history of Keyham. This scenic path is lined with native trees and plants, providing a serene walk through nature. Interpretive signs along the way highlight the area's rich heritage, offering a blend of education and relaxation. Whether you're a local history buff or simply looking for a peaceful stroll, the Heritage Forest Path is a must-visit.

A peaceful haven at Keyham Green Places

Studies have shown that gardening can be very beneficial to our wellbeing, helping to improve mental and physical health and reconnect with nature. Whilst gardening can be a calming, solo activity, it can also be a collective endeavour where we can build communities and work with others to create something meaningful. This Spring, our volunteer gardeners are working hard to make our gardens flourish at Keyham Green Places, providing a quiet sanctuary for our community.

“I always find nature to be very peaceful and good for your wellbeing. I enjoy seeing things grow and getting some exercise too. For anyone thinking of volunteering – do come along, any help is appreciated”

Chris – Vice Chair of Trustees

So far, we have been planting new seeds for springtime, including hawthorns, petunias, lilies and impatiens. Our vegetable patch is also very busy this time of year as our volunteers are growing an assortment of produce - this includes red and white onions, potatoes, lettuce, chard, runner beans, broad beans, strawberries and blueberries. The produce grown at Keyham Green Places is a vital resource for our foodbank which helps to provide essential meals to families and individuals in need. Our foodbank is currently accessible every Monday and Thursday from 10:00am to 1:00pm and is also supported by generous donations from local partners and the community.

As well as our Volunteer Gardener opportunities, we also have a range of other activities to get involved.

  • Our Men’s Shed initiative is open to all men and women over 18, every Monday from 09:30am to 12:30pm. Join us for the opportunity to meet new friends, share experiences and skills, and take part in a range of projects including gardening and woodworking.

  •  Our Micro Allotments are a perfect opportunity for local residents to grow their own produce, whether you are a beginner or experienced gardener. You can rent our Micro Allotments for £20 a year or volunteer for ten hours instead.

  • Our grounds provide a relaxing space to take a walk, have a picnic or spend time with family and friends.
